Deacon Arthur Manzione was ordained in 1979. He spent 11 years as superintendent of the 55 Catholic elementary schools in Westchester and Putnam Counties before being promoted to the Archdiocese’s central education office in 2002. He served as the associate secretary for education.
According to media reports, in August 2003, he was removed from ministry at St. Anthony of Padua in West Harrison, New York amid allegations of child sexual abuse while he was a Deacon and elementary school principal at Sacred Heart in Newburgh, NY in the early 1980s. He was laicized in September 2005.
In April 2019, Manzione’s name appeared on the Archdiocese of New York’s list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors.
