Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Alfred Gallant:
In 2002, the Archdiocese of New York received a report that Fr. Alfred Gallant had sexually abused a minor female 30 years prior. The details of the sexual abuse allegation, including when and where the abuse occurred, are unknown. He is the brother of Fr. John Gallant, who is also an accused abuser.
In 2002, Gallant was removed from ministry and sentenced to a life of prayer and penance, (possibly because of his age and health) but was subsequently laicized. Gallant is named on the Archdiocese of New York’s 2019 List of Archdiocesan Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor or the Subject of Eligible IRCP Compensation Claims.
Gallant’s whereabouts and whether he has had access to children from 2003 through the present are unknown.
