Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Robert Jeffers:

Fr. Robert Jeffers was ordained a Trappist priest in 1954 and incardinated into the Archdiocese of New York in 1964. In 2018, a report was made to the compensation program that Jeffers sexually abused a minor boy from 1972 to 1977 when he served at St. Augustine in the Bronx, New York.

Jeffers retired in 2007 but was reportedly removed from ministry in 2018. As of 2019, Jeffers was living in Manhattan, New York. Whether he has access to children is unknown. The canonical process is pending. According to the Archdiocese of New York, the claims against Jeffers were found “not proven” by a canonical administrative penal process mandated by the CDF.

Jeffers is listed on the Archdiocese of New York’s 2019 List of Archdiocesan Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor or the Subject of Eligible IRCP Compensation Claims.
