Br. Joe Sharkey was ordained a of the Servite religious order priest in 1943, who served in the Diocese of Orange. According to media reports, he has been named in a civil lawsuit that alleged that he sexually abused a child in 1967 to 1968. The details of the sexual abuse allegations, including where the alleged abuse occurred, or the victim’s age/gender, are unknown.

His name was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ 2004 list of Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor. Br. Sharkey’s clerical status, current whereabouts, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
