Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Lawrence J Quinn:

In September and October 2017, two complaints were filed with the Archdiocese’s Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program (IRCP), accusing Fr. Lawrence J Quinn of child sexual abuse. According to media reports, he was accused of abusing two boys while serving at Our Lady of Mercy, where he had served from 1983 to 2002. The alleged abuse of one child, a 5-year-old altar boy, started in 1990 and continued through 1996. The other boy, 12, was training as an altar server when the alleged abuse occurred from 1999 through 2001.

In November 2017, seeing that the Archdiocese of New York took no action to protect children in response to the two allegations, Horowitz Law’s own Jessica Arbour stood outside of the New York Archdiocese Chancery with television cameras to remind the Cardinal and his staff of the “zero-tolerance” policy that the Archdiocese repeatedly assured the general public it has toward abuse allegations. “It’s not just about compensating victims of child sexual abuse,” Arbour told the media. “It’s about protecting kids so there are no more victims. We will not stand by and allow more kids to be put at risk, even though it looks like the archdiocese does.”

News cameras confirmed Quinn was still in active ministry that same afternoon, serving as Parochial Vicar at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Inwood, New York. His current whereabouts are unknown; the Archdiocese has never confirmed it removed him from ministry. He may still be residing at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs.
