Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Brother Lawrence Brown:

Br. Lawrence Brown was a member of the Carmelite religious order, and served in the Diocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, he was named in a civil lawsuit alleging that he sexually abused a minor from 1955 to 1959 while working at Mt. Carmel High School in Los Angeles.

Br. Brown was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ 2005 list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. In November 2006, the Carmelites and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles reached a $10 million settlement with seven people claiming child sexual abuse.

Br. Brown died in 1980.
