Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Brother Martin McKeon:

Fr. Martin McKeon was ordained a Franciscan priest in 1952, who served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, in the 2000s, he was accused of sexually abusing three children from 1962 to 1966. In December 2003, he was named in one civil lawsuit alleging child sexual abuse while working at St. Anthony’s Seminary in Santa Barbara, CA.  The victim in the lawsuit claimed that Fr. McKeon would sexually abuse him while resting in the school’s infirmary in 1962. The claim was included in the $28 million settlement by the Franciscans in Santa Barbara.

Fr. McKeon’s name was included on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ 2004 list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. In May 2012, his personnel file was released. His name was included on Franciscans’ Santa Barbara Province list released in 2019. It noted allegations reported in 1993 and 2004 of the sexual abuse of minors in the 1960s. His name was also included on the diocese of Oakland’s list in 2019.

Fr. McKeon died in 1986.
