Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Brother Charles Onorato:
Br. Charles Onorato joined the Jesuits in 1961, and professed his final vows in 1977. He served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, he was accused of sexual abuse of a minor in 1980 after reports were made to the Diocese of Sacramento. The abuse allegedly occurred while he served at Jesuit High School in Carmichael, CA, from 1970-1980. He was removed and reassigned to Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose.
Fr. Onorato was reassigned six times over his tenure. In 2003, he was removed from ministry and sent to live under a safety plan at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos. In December 2018, his name was included on Jesuits West Province List of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse.
