Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Emmanuel Omemaga:
Father Emmanuel Omemaga, originally from the Philippines, was ordained a priest in 1983, who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of San Diego. According to media reports, in 1993, he was charged with 40 counts of abusing a 14-year-old girl. This was just after returning from a field trip with young girls to go see Pope John Paul II's Mass in Denver of 1993. The mother of the victim reported the incident to the Diocese.
Father Omemaga confessed and surrendered his faculties in October 1993, just before he fled back to the Philippines. He is currently considered a fugitive from criminal charges.
His name was added to the San Diego diocese's list of credibly accused priests in March 2007. A civil lawsuit and an FBI federal warrant, has been filed against him.
In October 2010, as part of a settlement with survivors of clergy sexual abuse, the Diocese of San Diego also released his personnel file.
