Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Francis Dowd:

Fr. Francis Dowd was ordained a a Redemptorist priest in 1934, who served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, in 2003, he was accused in a civil lawsuit of sexually abusing a child from 1963 to 1964 at Nelles Correctional Institute in Whittier.

Fr. Dowd was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. Fr. Dowd was born in Chicago and lived there for many years before moving to California. He died in 1982.
