Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Harold DeJonghe:
Fr. Harold DeJonghe was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1957. He was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in approximately 1975, serving in multiple parishes. According to media reports, in July 2003, a father reported that his son was sexually abused by Fr. DeJonghe in the early 1980s, while serving at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Covina, CA. In December, the victim filed a lawsuit alleging childhood sexual abuse. As a result of an investigation, the Archdiocese of Orange concluded that the allegations against Fr. DeJonghe were unfounded. However, he was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles' list of priests accused of sexual misconduct with minors. Fr. DeJonghe died in 1998.
