Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Patrick Kelly:
Father Patrick Kelly was a Jesuit priest visiting from Ireland, who served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles as a visiting priest in the late 1980s and early 1990s. According to media reports, he fled back to Ireland in December 1991 after he was criminally charged with sexually abusing a 11-year-old girl. The girl told her parents that he repeatedly kissed and fondled her at her home during a counseling session.
In April 1992, Father Kelly pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of sexual battery of the minor girl. He was sentenced to three years of probation without returning to the US. The girl's parents filed a civil lawsuit that same year.
Father Kelly's name was included on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles' list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. It noted he has been accused of sexually abusing at least four children in 1991. As of 2002, he was believed to be living in Ireland.
Father Kelly died in 2012 in Dublin. In March 2021, his name was included on the Diocese of Rockville Centre's list, noting alleged abuse at St. Joseph's in Ronkonkoma, among other places.
