Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Robert Koerner:

Father Robert Koerner was ordained a priest in 1937, who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of San Diego. According to media reports, in October 2002, the San Diego Bishop learned that Father Koerner had molested several minors during his 27-year tenure with the diocese.

Bishop Brom apologized to parishioners in March 2003, when he announced, “Koerner sexually abused children throughout the years of his pastorate at St. Patrick’s, from 1963 to 1990.” He said at the time that “more than two or three” victims had been identified thus far, and that they were “generally boys”.

In March 2007, Father Koerner’s name appeared on the Diocese of San Diego list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. His personnel file was also released in July 2013, and showed that he had admitted to fondling and kissing both young boys and girls.

No charges were ever filed against Koerner. He died in 1999 in San Antonio.
