Fr. William Messenger, known to most parishioners as Fr. Bill, was ordained was ordained a priest in 1977, who served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. or the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and subsequently received a Doctor of Ministry Degree from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley, California. He served in several parishes, mostly in the greater Los Angeles area, and for twelve years as director of the Catholic Center at the University of Southern California.
According to media reports, in 2005, one survivor came forward alleging improper conduct with an adult by Fr. William Messenger in 1980. The priest was then placed on a leave of absence. As of 2010, Fr. Messenger, although still a priest, is no longer in active parish ministry, but does perform services outside the Catholic Church in California.
