Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Msgr. John Doherty:

Msgr. John Doherty (also spelled Dougherty) was ordained a priest in 1939, and served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, in December 2003, he was accused in a civil lawsuit of sexually abusing a minor from 1967 to 1969. He is believed to have lived at a private residence in Dana Point, California, following his retirement in 1989 until he died in 2002. He was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors.
