Summary of Abuse Allegations against Brother Lawrence Sandstrom:

Brother Lawrence Sandstrom was a member of the Brothers of the Holy Cross religious order who served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He is believed to have worked at La Salle High School in Pasadena, as well as other high schools in Hayward and New Orleans. According to a 2004 archdiocesan report, he has been accused of sexually abusing at least five people from approximately 1955 to 1969. Some of his alleged victims were children from Maryvale Catholic Orphanage. Other alleged victims have also accused him of sexually abusing them as children at Rancho San Antonio in Chatsworth in the 1960s.

According to media reports, Brother Sandstrom was named in two civil lawsuits in December 2003, alleging child sexual abuse that occurred between approximately 1967 and 1969. Both suits were settled in 2007. He reportedly left the order in 1997, and as of 1999, he was believed to be living in Fairhope, Alabama. His name was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests credibly accused of child sexual abuse. His current whereabouts are unknown. In 2013, his personnel file was released.
