Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father William Roper:

Father William Roper was ordained a Claretian religious order priest in 1968 and served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, in March 2002, he was named in a lawsuit alleging that he sexually abused an 8-or 9-year old girl from 1968 to 1969. She claimed that the abuse occurred at “Claretville Seminary near Laurel Canyon.”

Father Roper’s name is included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ 2004 list of priests accused of child sexual abuse, as well as on the Archdiocesan Report Addendum released in November 2005.  His name is also included on the Diocese of Gallup’s 2014 list of clerics credibly accused of sex abuse of minors.

It is believed Father Roper has died, but the date of his death is not known.
