Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Monsignor Patrick Reilly:
Msgr. Patrick Reilly was ordained a priest in 1958, who served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, in 2003, he was named in a civil lawsuit alleging that he sexually assaulted a minor between 1980 and 1984 while serving at Sacred Heart in Covina. The details of the sexual abuse allegations, including the victim’s age/gender, are unknown.
In 2004, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles ruled that the accusations were unfounded. Church officials allowed Msgr. Reilly to continue functioning in ministry as a priest but forced him to retire. His name was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors.
Msgr. Reilly died in 2018 at the age of 83.
