Br. Joaquin Moreno was named publicly as accused by the Franciscans’ Santa Barbara Province on its list in 2019. Notes of the allegation stated that Moreno sexually abused a minor in 1996. The details of the sexual abuse allegations, including the information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims or the nature of the alleged sexual abuse, are unknown.
Moreno is listed on the Diocese of Oakland 2019 list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor. In 2020, he was also named on the Diocese of Stockton list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. It is noted that he was assigned within the Diocese of Stockton from 1991-1992 and that he was laicized in 2010.
Moreno left the order in 2008.
