Summary of Abuse Allegations against Brother Pedro Vasquez:
Brother Pedro Vasquez was ordained a Franciscan Friar priest in 1971, who served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, he was one of several religious brothers assigned to Santa Barbara who was named as a child sexual abuser in a civil suit filed in August 2008. The suit alleged that the Franciscans constituted “an ongoing public nuisance as a result of their practice of shuttling pedophile priests among communities without warning members of the public that a sexual predator might be in their midst.” The alleged abuse occurred in the 2000s.
It is believed Brother Vasquez died in 2016. Prior to his death, it is believed he was living in Los Banos, CA. In 2019, his name appeared on the Santa Barbara Province Franciscans’ list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors.
