Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Carlton Whitten:
Father Carlton Whitten, a member of the Jesuit Order, was ordained in 1961. He was a visiting priest sent to temporarily work at St. Joseph in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He frequently worked for priests on vacation or leave along the west coast. According to media reports, in 2007, it was alleged he sexually abused a 17-year-old boy while he worked at St. Joseph in White Salmon, Washington. He was placed on leave and moved from his residence at Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose to Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos while the allegation was investigated.
According to the 2012 Official Catholic Directory Father Whitten was listed as still living at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos. His name appeared on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. His current whereabouts are unknown.
