Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Henry Vetter
Father Henry Xavier Vetter was ordained a Passionist priest in 1938, who served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, at least seven survivors have come forward alleging he sexually abused them as children from 1953 to 1973. He died in 1977.
Father Vetter was named in a civil lawsuit in 2003, and has reportedly since fled to Mexico. His name appeared on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors, as well as on the Diocese of Kansas City, St Joseph List released in April 2021. It noted one substantiated allegation of abuse in the diocese.
