Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Joseph Ryan:
Father Joseph Ryan was a priest from Ireland excardinated to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 1965. According to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, he was moved almost yearly, sometimes twice in a year, and had several leaves of absence and sick leaves from 1945 through 1960. He died in 1976.
According to media reports, in 2002, he was accused in a civil suit of sexually abusing a brother and sister at St. Anthony Catholic Church in El Segundo from 1945 to 1946. His personnel file was released in January 2013. He was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of child sexual abuse.
Father Ryan died in 1976.
