Fr. Angel Mariano was ordained a priest in 1992 who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of San Jose. According to media reports, he was a cross-dresser who was convicted of child molestation in 1998 for performing oral sex on a with a 17-year-old boy while posing as a 25-year-old Hawaiian woman. At the time, he was serving as an associate pastor at Most Holy Trinity in San Jose. He was permanently banned from ministry that year.

Fr. Mariano was convicted and served five months in jail. He completed a sex offender treatment program at St. Luke’s Institute in Maryland and became a registered sex offender. After release from prison he moved to a Jesuit community at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos.
