Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Arthur Manuel Cunha:

In 1986, Fr. Arthur Manuel Cunha was arrested in Novato, California for suspected child sexual abuse of an 11-year-old boy after a restaurant waitress noticed inappropriate and suspicious behavior involving a man and boy.

According to media reports, Cunha pleaded guilty to molesting two boys at Our Lady of Loretto in Novato, CA, and was sentenced to sixty days in jail and four months at a counseling center.

Cunha was the associate pastor of Our Lady of Loretto Parish at the time of the abuse. Before joining the priesthood, Cunha was a teacher in the Fremont, CA school system.

Cunha was named in three lawsuits, one of which settled for $640,000.

Cunha’s status as a priest, current whereabouts, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
