Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Herold Ernsdorff:
Fr. Herold Ernsdorff was ordained a priest of the Oregon Province in 1943, who served in multiple dioceses including in the Diocese of San Jose. According to media reports, in 2011, his name was included on the Oregon Province's list of its members who have been identified as perpetrators of sexual abuse. As part of the Jesuits Reorganization Plan, the province agreed to post on its website the names of all members of the province who are identified as perpetrators of sexual abuse in proofs of claims filed in the bankruptcy case, and who have not denied the allegation.
In 2018, Ernsdorff was included on the Jesuits West Province list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. It noted allegations reported in 2009 in reference to sexual abuse of a minor that took place in 1949-1951. During the time of the abuse, Ernsdorff was assigned to St. Andrew's Mission in Pendleton, Oregon. Information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims or the nature of the alleged sexual abuse is unknown.
Ernsdorff died in 1958.
