Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Joseph Mikulich:

Originating from Croatia, Fr. Joseph Mikulich was a priest of the Franciscan Order who worked in the Archdioceses of Portland and San Francisco. According to media reports, in 1985, a woman from Great Falls, Montana, reported that Mikulich sexually abused her from 1972-1978, when she was aged 12-21. The Archdiocese of Portland refused any assistance to the young woman and did not tell Mikulich (then age 87) of the allegation.

Mikulich retired in 1982 and moved back to Croatia for a short time before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area. He is listed on the Santa Barbara Province Franciscans 2019 list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor.

He died in 2000 at age 101.
