Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Robert Gray:

Fr. Robert Gray was ordained a priest in 1988 who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of San Jose. According to media reports, he was convicted of sexually abusing a teenage boy while teaching him karate in 1993. Gray reportedly gave him alcoholic beverages, showed him pornography, and fondled the minor. Charges regarding two other boys were dismissed.

Gray was sent to jail for 160 days and given 5 years probation. He received psychiatric treatment before he returned to ministry in 1995. He was removed as head of the cemeteries department and placed on permanent leave in June 2002.

In 2018, his name was included on the Diocese of San Jose list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. It noted an allegation of abuse occurring between 1991-1993, was received in 1993.

As of 2018, Gray’s last known whereabouts were in Sunnyvale, California.
