Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Elias F. Guimaraes:

Fr. Elias F. Guimaraes was ordained in 1993 and is from Brazil. In 2001, Guimaraes arrived in the Diocese of Palm Beach.

The following year, in 2002, Guimaraes was arrested after he was caught arriving on a beach for a sexual rendezvous with a detective who had been posing as a 14-year-old boy on the internet. According to media reports, Guimaraes sent many sexually explicit messages and bragged of having sex with a 14-year old boy and a 16-year-old boy.

In 2003, Guimaraes pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four years and three months in federal prison. He was released from prison in May of 2006.

According to media reports, Guimaraes may have been deported to Brazil upon release. His current whereabouts are unknown.
