Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Jan Malicki:

Fr. Jan Malicki was ordained in Poland in 1973 and he arrived in Florida in 1989.

Just over a decade later, Malicki was accused in a 1998 lawsuit of abusing a 13-year-old girl and another woman from 1994 to 1997. Police investigated the allegations for two years yet there were no charges filed. The suit was dormant for four years until the FL Supreme Court ruled in 2002 that churches were not protected from negligent hiring and supervision claims. The suit settled in 2005.

According to media reports, when the allegations against Malicki surfaced, the archdiocese quickly sent Malicki for evaluation and treatment, removed him from active ministry, and offered counseling to both women who accused him of sexual misconduct.

Malicki filed a suit in 2002 against the Archdiocese for publicly accusing him of wrongdoing. However, his suit was dismissed in 2003.

Very little is known of Malicki’s activities within the church as the Archdiocese of Miami has not released any information about Malicki’s assignment history.

Malicki’s current whereabouts are unknown.
