Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Dcn. Louis Hanemann:

Dcn. Louis Hanemann was ordained in 1983, and served in the Diocese of Lafayette. Prior to his ordination, he worked as an educator in three high schools, and also held numerous positions with the Boy Scouts of America. Between the time Dcn. Hanemann was ordained in 1983 and the time he left the ministry in 1986, he was also assigned to the Diocese of Raleigh, NC.

According to media reports, in April 2019, Dcn. Hanemann was publicly named on the Diocese of Lafayette’s disclosure list of “deacons against whom credible allegations have been made regarding sexual abuse of a minor or vulnerable adult.” Information about the date, age/gender of his alleged victim/victims and the nature of the alleged sexual abuse was not provided by the Diocese of Lafayette. There is no indication that the diocese reported the allegation to law enforcement.

Dcn. Hanemann was removed from ministry in 2002. He died in Raleigh, NC in 2007.
