Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Charles Bartles:

Fr. Charles Bartles  was ordained a Jesuit priest in 1965, and served in Kansas, Florida, Georgia, Alaska, New Orleans, Jamaica, Brazil, and in the Diocese of Shreveport. According to media reports, in 2010, a child sexual abuse allegation against Fr. Bartles was revealed in the Fairbanks diocese's bankruptcy reorganization documents.

In 2018, Fr. Bartles was publicly named on the Jesuits Central and Southern Province list of Jesuits with "credible accusations of sexual abuse of a minor." The list notes multiple allegations of child sexual abuse in the 1970s-1980s against Fr. Bartles. His name appeared on the Jesuits West Province 2018 list of Jesuits with "credible claims of sexual abuse of a minor or vulnerable adult." The list noted that the allegations in 1973-1974 and 1978 against the priest were reported in 2009.

In December 2018, the Diocese of Shreveport listed Fr. Bartles under the heading "release of names of Jesuits removed for sexual abuse of minors: priests who served in the Diocese of Shreveport." The Archdiocese of Atlanta included his name on its 2020 list of "Religious order/other diocesan priests with credible allegations of child abuse outside the Diocese of Atlanta."

Fr. Bartles died in 1993
