According to media reports, he was named publicly as a priest accused of sexual abuse by the Diocese of Baton Rouge in 2019. The allegation against Clark was received on December 15, 2018 of abuse that occurred between 1964-65 when Clark was assigned to St. Thomas More in Baton Rouge, LA. He was reassigned by the Claretian Order and left the diocese in 1965. Information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims and the nature of the alleged abuse was not provided by the Diocese of Baton Rouge.

The case was dismissed on statute of limitations and affirmed by U.S. Court of Appeals in December of 1996. Fr. Clark was included on both the Diocese of Gallup's (2013) and the Santa Fe Archdiocese's (2017) lists of clergy members who have been credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors.
