Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Fr. Jody Blanchard:

Fr. Jody Blanchard was ordained a Jesuit priest in 1983, and served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Baton Rouge. According to media reports, in December 2018, he was publicly named and included on the Central and Southern Province of the Jesuits list of credibly accused clergy for whom allegations of sexual abuse of a minor have been admitted, substantiated or determined to be credible. He was also named on the Diocese of Baton Rouge’s list of credibly accused in 2019.

Information about the age/gender of his alleged victims, the nature of the abuse, Fr. Blanchard’s assignments at the time of the alleged abuse, or when the abuse took place was not provided by the Jesuits or the Diocese of Baton Rouge.

According to a 2019 KATC news report, the Diocese of Lafayette is investigating Fr. Blanchard as a “priest named as having credible accusations by a diocese or religious group.” Fr. Blanchard was assigned to St. Charles Borromeo, which is part of the Diocese of Lafayette.

Fr. Blanchard left the Jesuits in 1994 and is currently a counselor to the elderly and spiritual care/bereavement coordinator in Lafayette, Louisiana.
