Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Joseph Guidry:

Fr. Joseph Guidry was ordained a priest of Society Of the Divine Word in 1957, and served in the Diocese of Baton Rouge. According to media reports, he was named on the Diocese’s list of former clergy members who are accused of sexually abusing minors in July 2019. The abuse did not take place when Guidry was serving in the Baton Rouge area, but occurred in Mississippi.

In March 2019, the Diocese of Jackson included Fr. Guidry’s name on their list of clergy credibly accused of abuse. The diocese did not release any information regarding the gender/age of the victim, or the number of people who have come forward. The alleged abuse took place in Greenville, MS in the 1980’s. The abuse was reported in 2004. Fr. Guidry was removed from the ministry in 2004 following the allegation.
