Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Joseph LeFrois:

Fr. Joseph LeFrois was ordained a priest in 1944, and served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Baton Rouge. According to media reports, in September 1994, a complaint of sexual misconduct involving a young girl was registered against the priest with the Diocese of Baton Rouge. The alleged abuse was said to have occurred in the mid 1950’s when Fr. LeFrois was assigned to Immaculate Conception in Plaquemine, LA. Information about the age of his victim/victims and the nature of the alleged sexual abuse was not provided by the Diocese of Baton Rouge. Upon receiving the allegation, which came after LeFrois’s death in 1992, the Diocese of Baton Rouge notified the Josephite order.

In February 2019, the Diocese of Baton Rouge officially named Fr. LeFrois on its list of clergy members who have been credibly accused of abuse within the Diocese of Baton Rouge or in other dioceses across the country.
