Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Salvador Moran:
Fr. Salvador Moran was ordained a priest in 1972, and served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Baton Rouge. According to media reports, in March 2019, Fr. Moran was named on the Diocese of Baton Rouge’s list of clergy members who have been credibly accused of abuse within the Diocese of Baton Rouge or in other dioceses across the country. The list notes that the allegations of child sexual abuse in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s against Fr. Moran were received in October of 1994 and January of 2004 when Moran was assigned to St. Joseph the Worker in Pierre Part and St. Philip Catholic Church in Vacherie, LA. Information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims and the nature of the alleged sexual abuse was not provided by the Diocese of Baton Rouge. Fr. Salvador Moran was placed on leave in 1994, and his priestly faculties were removed that same year.
