Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Br. Paul McGlade:

Br. Paul McGlade, a native Australian, was a member of the Congregation of Christian Brothers who served in the Diocese of Norwich. According to media reports, in 2018, he was named in a lawsuit in which 24 men claimed Br. McGlade sexually abused them as teenagers from 1986-1996. At the time, the boys were aged 11-to-15-years old and were residents of the diocesan-run Academy at Mount Saint John for at-risk children with behavioral, emotional, family and educational problems.

McGlade was a teacher at the school and executive director from 1990. Most of the lawsuits claim that the brother reportedly forced oral sex, masturbation, and sodomy. The suits also allege the diocese disregarded complaints that McGlade sexually abused the children.

In 2019, McGlade’s name was not included in the Diocese of Norwich’s list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors. McGlade was also accused of abuse of boys prior to being assigned within the Diocese of Norwich. According to media reports, as of December of 2020, there were a total of 50 plaintiffs and 35 lawsuits against the Diocese of Norwich.

McGlade died in 2013.
