Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Donat Jette:

Fr. Donat Jette was ordained a priest in 1918 who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Norwich. According to media reports, in April 2002, a man reported that he had been sexually abused by Fr. Jette in the early 1960s, when he went to confession after having been abused by Fr. Donald Petraitis. The alleged abused occurred while the priest was serving at St. Mary’s in Putnam. Bishop Hart did not report the allegation until at least a month later, in violation of the state’s mandatory reporting law. Hart was never charged by police.

Details including the age of the victim/s or the nature of the alleged sexual abuse is unknown. Fr. Jette’s name was not included in the Diocese of Norwich’s 2019 list of clergy credibly accused with allegations of the substance of sexual abuse of a minor.

He died in 2002.
