Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Edward Terry Allen

In February 2019, Fr. Edward Terry Allen was publicly named on the Diocese of Alexandria list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor. According to the list, an allegation of sexual misconduct and abuse of a male minor in 1973 was brought against Fr. Allen and subsequently reviewed by the Permanent Review Board in 2005.

The Permanent Review Board evaluates all allegations of clerical sexual misconduct involving minors. The allegation was deemed credible, and Fr. Allen resigned from active ministry.

While the nature and scope of the abuse are not provided, Fr. Allen settled with the victim in 2012.

The Diocese of Alexandria did not include Fr. Allen’s assignment history in their 2019 list, but his obituary states he had approximately 44 years of active ministry before his resignation in 2005. Ordained as a priest on June 3, 1961, Fr. Allen served as a pastor at St. Paul at the Apostle Catholic Church in Mansura as early as 1969, according to sources.

Fr. Allen died on December 24, 2018.
