Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Kenneth Bonadies:
Fr. Kenneth Bonadies was ordained a priest in 1966 for the Diocese of Steubenville, who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Norwich. According to media reports, in May 2021, the Archdiocese of Hartford paid a six-figure settlement to a Connecticut man who credibly accused Fr. Bonadies of sexually abusing him hundreds of times over a four-year period beginning in 1981. At the time of the abuse, the victim was 14-17 years old. The abuse occurred in the rectory of St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Catholic High School, and in the priest’s car. The suit also alleges that after Fr. Bonadies left the Diocese of Steubenville, he was sent for treatment for pedophilia and then incardinated to the Archdiocese of Hartford.
The Diocese of Norwich included Fr. Bonadies’s name on its 2018 list of “priests who served in the Diocese of Norwich who had allegations in other places but not it the Diocese of Norwich.”
In May of 2021, the Archdiocese of Hartford publicly named Bonadies on its list of “clergy who have been the object of legal settlements or otherwise credibly accused of sexual abuse of minor from 1953 to present.”
According to media reports, Bonadies currently resides in Pinellas Park, FL.
