Deacon Albert Alexander

Diocese of Lafayette

Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Deacon Albert Alexander:

In September 2021, the Diocese of Lafayette announced that Deacon Albert Alexander had been placed on administrative leave following multiple allegations of child sexual abuse.  According to media reports, the Diocese stated that the alleged sexual misconduct related “to a period of time many years before he was ordained a deacon.”

Alexander was ordained a permanent deacon of the Lafayette Diocese in 2020 after serving as an acolyte for approximately one year.  At the time of his removal, he was assigned to a five-year term at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette.

The Diocese says its internal investigation is ongoing.

In addition to serving as a deacon of the Diocese, media reports indicate that Alexander is a licensed Louisiana attorney and is the managing attorney of the healthcare industry group at Alvarez and Marshal, a global law firm headquartered in New York.
