Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Lucien McKeone:

Fr. Lucien McKeone was ordained a priest in 1959, who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Portland. According to media reports, in 2005, the Diocese of Portland publicly named him as a priest with credible accused of child sexual abuse. The first report of alleged abuse was received in 1993 from a woman who claims that Fr. McKeone sexually abused her for five years beginning when she was 15 years old. According to the victim, Fr. McKeone was a family friend who was frequently invited to her home. The victim also attended a camp on school vacation days and would ride home with Fr. McKeone. The alleged abuse involved fondling and Fr. McKeone forcing himself on the victim.

The victim’s sister also alleges that Fr. McKeone sexually abused her, though her memories of the abuse are vague. She claims that she has recurring dreams in which she is trying to fight Fr. McKeone’s advances. Information regarding the age of the alleged victim was not provided by the Diocese of Portland.

According to documents released by the Maine Attorney General’s Office, the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee contacted the Diocese of Portland on behalf of a man who alleges that he was sexually abused by Fr. McKeone in the early 1960’s beginning when he was 10-11 years old. The victim claims that Fr. McKeone molested him on multiple occasions when McKeone was serving in Rumford.

Fr. McKeone died in 1980 at the age of 47.
