Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Wilfred Carignan:

Wilfred Carignan was a Trappist seminarian at St. Benedict’s Monastery in Old Snowmass, CO. Carignan was not accepted as a monk, and instead worked as a beekeeper for the monastery in the Archdiocese of Denver. He was known as “Bill the Beekeeper.”

According to media reports, in 2008, Wilfred Carignan was convicted on two counts of sexual assault and sentenced to two separate sentences of six and eight years to life. Carignan is accused of molesting boys between 8-18 years old in Hotchkiss, CO. The victims worked at the Happy Hermit, a store owned and operated by Carignan.

Wilfred Carignan was arrested in 2011 after an allegation of child sexual abuse in 2000 against Carignan was reported in August 2010. The alleged victim was a 6th or 7th grade male student who was being tutored at Carignan’s house near St. Benedict’s Monastery. At the time of the alleged abuse, Carignan was working as the monastery’s beekeeper.

Wilfred Carignan is a registered sex offender living in Boerne, TX.
