Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Deacon William S. Albaugh
Deacon William S. Albaugh was a Catholic priest who worked in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. According to the Archdiocese of Baltimore's website, Fr. Albaugh was arrested in 2013 on one charge of possession of child pornography by the Baltimore County Police Department. Detectives began investigating Albaugh after his Internet service provider, Verizon Online, notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that one of its subscribers was storing pornographic images of children on their cloud storage service. That subscriber was identified as Albaugh, and police searched Albaugh's home shortly after. Police found saved images of child pornography on his Verizon Online account and thumb drives. Media reports state that Albaugh admitted to police he had viewed child pornography since the 1970s; he would never harm a child, the documents say.
Albaugh, a permanent deacon assigned to St. Joseph Church in Fullerton, was ordained in 1996 and has spent his entire ministry at St. Joseph. The archdiocese immediately suspended Albaugh's diaconal faculties, prohibiting him from all public ministry. Albaugh died in 2016, three years after his arrest.
