Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Guillermo Izquierdo:

Fr. Guillermo "William" Izquierdo was a Priest of the Legionaries of Christ and worked in the Archdiocese of Baltimore and Hartford. In 2020, Fr. Guillermo Izquierdo was listed on the Archdiocese of Baltimore's Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of Minors list. In April 2023, Maryland's Attorney General released a report alleging 156 Catholic clergy members sexually abused at least 600 children over six decades. The report lists the names of the abusers, including Father Guillermo Izquierdo.

In 2013, the Legionaries of Christ released a press release stating that they were informed of an allegation regarding sexual abuse involving Father Izquierdo and a novice when Izquierdo was an instructor in Cheshire, CT, from 1982 to 1994. The press release says that in addition to reporting to local authorities, the Legion commissioned Praesidium to provide a thorough, independent investigation, which concluded with the review board deeming the allegations credible.

When the investigation ended in 2013, Father Izquierdo's health declined, and was in an advanced state of dementia. Fr. Izquierdo died in 2015. Izquierdo was on restricted duty from 2005-2008, after the Order received its first allegation. In addition to being listed on Baltimore's list, Izquierdo was added to the Archdiocese of Hartford's list of credibly accused and the Legionaries' list in 2019.
