Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Joseph Hill:
Fr. Joseph Hill was a member of the Vincentian Order and worked in the Archdiocese of Baltimore and Philadelphia. Fr. Hill is listed on the Archdiocese of Baltimore's Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of Minors list. In April 2023, Maryland's Attorney General released a report alleging 156 Catholic clergy members sexually abused at least 600 children over six decades. The report lists the names of the abusers, including Father Joseph Hill.
According to the Attorney General's report, in 2003, a man reported that his older sister was sexually abused by Father Joseph Hill in the 1960s when she was a teenager. The man stated his family met Fr. Hill when he worked at Our Lady of Lourdes. His then 16-year-old sister often helped Hill with his paperwork in his bedroom. While in the bedroom, Hill would have sexual intercourse with the victim. The sexual abuse went on for several years. The victim confided in her younger sister at the time of the abuse or shortly thereafter. She struggled with substance abuse and committed suicide in 2002.
In 2023, several days after the Maryland Attorney General's report was released, a woman reported abuse by Hill to the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
Fr. Hill died in 1990.
