Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Br. William McCarthy:

Br. “Constantine” William F. McCarthy was one of the 156 priests identified by the Maryland Attorney General as having been accused of sexually abusing minors during their tenure with the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

According to the Attorney General’s report, a man reported in 2002 that he had been sexually abused by Br. McCarthy when the victim was 8 or 9 years old. The victim was a student at St. Patrick School in Baltimore, where Br. McCarthy was assigned. Br. McCarthy would call the victim to his desk, surround the victim with his robe, and sexually assault the victim. The victim reported at least two other boys had also been sexually abused by Br. McCarthy.

Br. McCarthy’s name appears on the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s list of priests credibly accused of sexual misconduct with a minor. Br. McCarthy’s name also appears on the Xaverian Brothers’ list of priests credibly accused of sexual misconduct with a minor.

According to the report, Br. McCarthy is believed to have died in the 1970s.
