Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Fr. Eugene A. McGuire:

Father Eugene Ambrose McGuire was one of the 156 priests identified by the Maryland Attorney General as having been accused of sexually abusing minors during their tenure with the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

According to the Attorney General’s report, a woman reported in 1993 having been sexually abused by Fr. McGuire between 1962 and 1966, beginning when she was 7 years old. The victim was a student at St. Joseph’s Monastery School in Baltimore, where Fr. McGuire was assigned. Fr. McGuire was a friend of the victim’s family and would spend time at the victim’s home. Fr. McGuire brought the victim presents and took her on trips, including a road trip to Florida. Fr. McGuire sexually abused the victim hundreds of times in the rectory at St. Joseph’s Monastery, the victim’s home, and in his car on trips. According to the report, on one occasion another priest witnessed the abuse.

According to the report, the victim’s sister was also repeatedly sexually abused by Fr. McGuire during the same period in a similar manner. Fr. McGuire sexually abused both victims hundreds of times between 1962 and 1966.

According to the Attorney General’s report, a man reported in 2002 having been sexually abused by Fr. McGuire in the late 1940s or early 1950s. The victim’s family lived near St. Joseph’s Monastery and the victim gravitated towards friendly priests as father figures. Several Passionist priests visited the victim’s home and socialized with the victim’s parents. When the victim was 8 years old, he sat on Fr. McGuire’s lap and Fr. McGuire then sexually abused the victim.

According to the Attorney General’s report, a man reported in 2019 having been sexually abused by Fr. McGuire between 1970 and 1972, when the victim was a student in junior high school. Fr. McGuire sexually abused the victim repeatedly, including in the rectory at St. Joseph’s Monastery.

Fr. McGuire’s name appears on the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s list of priests credibly accused of sexual misconduct with a minor.

According to the Passionists’ historical archives, Fr. McGuire died in 1984.
