In September 2025, Hunter Eubanks, a 31-year-old Baptist church leader from Tallahassee pleaded guilty in federal court to sexually exploiting a minor. The 16-year old female victim attended Morningside Church where Eubanks served as a worship leader and led a church music internship program.
Eubanks was arrested by the Leon County Sheriff's Office on December 4, 2024, on multiple charges of sexual assault, including battery of a minor, cruelty toward a child, aggravated battery on a child, use of a computer to lure a child, obscene communication, and travel to meet after using a computer to lure a child. The sexual abuse occurred between July 4 and October 9, 2024. Moreover, communications between Eubanks and the minor via an iPhone app revealed that Eubanks requested images that constitute child pornography.
Eubanks is scheduled to be sentenced on November 24, 2025. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and up to 30 years in federal prison, plus supervised monitoring after his release.
According to media reports, Eubanks allegedly assaulted and committed "multiple sexual acts" on the minor who attended the church he served, Morningside Church, located at 1560 Pecrick Road in Tallahassee. According to media reports, the Leon County Sheriff's Office said the youth pastor was involved in music and worship, and he started to abuse the 16-year-old girl in July. Deputies learned of the sex crimes on October 9th and have been investigating since before issuing a warrant for his arrest.
While LCSO originally referred to Eubanks as a "youth pastor," the church's website from November listed him as "a worship leader." Eubanks served as the 9 a.m. service's worship leader since April 2020, and prior to this role, he served in the church's youth and college ministries, according to the now deleted biography.
